What are the components of an excavator?
The major components of the excavator are a bucket, arm, rotating cab, and movable tracks; and its operations are controlled by hydraulics. The primary function of excavator in the construction industry is digging ditches, trenches, foundations, and holes and for quarrying and mining river beds in the mining industry.
What is the arm called on an excavator?
The boom is the angled arm that is attached to the excavator itself and the arm is pinned to the boom. The arm is sometimes called the dipper or stick. A knuckle boom can move right or left in line with the machine, unlike standard booms which can only move up or down.
How to replace the excavator chain assembly?
1. Gather the necessary tools and parts. You will need a replacement excavator chain assembly, a socket set, a wrench set, and a hammer.
2. Park the excavator in a level, stable position.
3. Disconnect the battery to ensure safety.
4. Remove the old chain assembly by loosening the bolts that hold it in place. Use the socket set and wrench set to do this.
5. Once the old chain assembly has been removed, clean the area around the track and sprockets to ensure there are no debris or dirt obstructing the new chain assembly.
6. Install the new chain assembly by following the manufacturer’s instructions.
7. Tighten the bolts of the new chain assembly using the socket set and wrench set.
8. Connect the battery and start the engine to check for proper operation.
